Last Pottery Class

Well it's almost time for our last pottery class. This week will be our last one. :( So depressing! We were having a lot of fun in the class and really enjoying ourselves getting out and well doing something creative that we both enjoyed doing.

Just some updates:

Sadly Mr. Furry Monster didn't make it past his baking time so he is departed. :( But at least I have a picture of him all furry. We are still trying to figure out how that happened.  But it was still cool anyway.  I'm going to try my hand at making Mr. Furry Monster II. Fingers crossed that he survives.

Bob has made some beautiful items. That I will have to post more pictures of, once he has them glazed.

We really loved the class, and are going to be signing up for another one since we've had so much fun. The last class I made some larger plates to go with our smaller ones that I made. I should have Bob take a picture when I'm dropping them. What you do is roll out your clay, smooth it out lay it upon a frame with a board and then you drop it. The clay then takes the shape of the frame.

One of our teachers Mary Beth made some cute little monsters/pigs. I did manage to snap a few pictures of them. I'll post them later on.

If anyone is wanting to take pottery I really recommend it. It was really fun, and gave us the chance to meet new people.

Pictures to follow

American Heart Association Walk Cobb County Georgia

The Start Line
I'm in the pink shirt that's sorta in the middle. You can see some of Bob he has a grey shirt on.

The back of the start line
Never in a million years did I ever think I would do a 5K marathon. I think back to when I hardly could walk around the block a few months ago, fifty (50) + pounds heavier, in horrible shape and struggling to just walk around the block.  I thought I was going to die, but I kept going. half way around, then soon it was turning into once around the block......and I kept going and going and going until I reached 3 miles. this past Saturday when I walked continuously, finishing my very first 5K marathon.

The best thing is Bob surprised me and entered the walk with me. I thought that he was only going to cheer me along. I'm so proud of him.

I worked my butt off. I loved pushing myself. Who knew I'd feel like this about walking? Who knew I would be entering races?  I would always sit back and watch people enter, saying to myself that it could never be me.  Since moving to GA I've had a new outlook on life. More of an I can do it attitude.  (Really thinking of entering more walks/races soon)

Leading up to the walk, I actually started to dread it, not because I was afraid of it but I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to finish. But I know that Bob will be around to cheer me along.  He's such a great guy and supports me in everything.

So, about the 5K. It was amazing and even the cold morning didn't stop me. It was about 55 maybe 60 degrees. Perfect conditions, actually. Around halfway, the morning started to get warmer.  Mind you we were both up at 7 am to get to the race on time. We usually sleep in on a Saturday but not this time.

Bob kept up with me most of the time.  Which I was proud of him with, since he hasn't been walking with me or even more so in training for a 5k distance. Bob stopped a few times. I on the other hand am one who really doesn't like stopping once I'm going. I made sure that he was alright and kept going on my way.  I was shocked a few times that he caught up with me. Those darn hills are always a killer. But we managed them. However, I lost Bob on hill that he wanted to stop at. I really don't like stopping on hills as my muscles tense up all the time. So this is when we parted ways. Bob was tired from walking and had to rest for sometime.  So I told him I would meet him by the finish line.

Me almost to the finish line.
Not sure who took this pic  But thank youAmerican Heart Association of Cobb CountyFor having awesome photographers.

I was so happy seeing the finish line. It brought me to shed a few tears knowing that I  finished my very first 5k. I was actually proud of myself and I was so glad to see that I could set out to do something that I  worked so hard to do. I am so lucky to have a husband who supports me with my crazy ideas.

I need to add the pictures of Bob I have one of him crossing/getting close to the finish line. Once again I'm so proud that he joined me.

Pottery Class II RIP Mr. Furry Monster

Well we've had more than two classes.  We've just been having so much fun.  This past week Bob managed to finish some pieces.   Which I might add came out wonderful.  Our last or more so my last piece I was building some how developed mold. Not sure how this happened we are all puzzled at the fact.  But my monster grew fur/mold go figure.

Mr. Furry Monster RIP Mr. Furry Monster Sadly he didn't make it.

Mr. Furry! He doesn't have a name yet but having the mold grow on him is still a question as to how it happened.  But no fear  he is being cooked and we are sure that will kill the mold.

Bob Working on a Slab of Clay

Bob always does an awesome job at his work.  He thinks they are awful. I disagree.  Some of his work so far.

I'm in hopes next class we will be able to see Mr. Furry Monster and a vase he made.  Both will have to be glazed next class then fired again.  I'm hoping that both turn out nice.

This past class I made a vase that looks like a tree trunk. I'm hoping that it doesn't crack like others have been. Guess we will have to wait and see.
